Double contrast knee arthrographic findings of meniscus injury.

Abstract
It is well known that double contrast orthography of the knee is safe and technically simple procedure permitting accurate diagnosis of meniscus lesion, especially tears.
The author analyzed double contrast orthographic findings of 25cases of meniscus injury confirmed by operation at the Chonnam National University Hospital from May, 1982 to January, 1985.
The results were as follows
1. Of the 25 cases, 15 cases were male(80.6%), and 10 cases were female (40%). Male was more affected than female(male: female=1.5:1).
And the injury of meniscus was most frequently occurred in the age group between 10 and 29 years old(68%).
2. The right knee joint was a more prevalent site (right: left=2:1). And lateral meniscus was more frequently affected than medial meniscus (lateral: medial = 5: 1) .
3. The most common type of the injured meniscus on operative finding was discoid type in 15 cases(60%). of 15 cases with discoid meniscus, 13 cases were associated with tearing.
4. The most common orthographic findings of injured meniscus was contrast media in the meniscus in 19 cases (76 %) .
5. Diagnostic accuracy of orthography was(88%).
